Several weeks ago, seniors Gabby Ashworth, Kaitlyn Kitchens, and April Bryok, revealed to Mr. Harris they were interested in a career in healthcare. Hearing this, he arranged for them to job shadow today at Highland Hills Medical Center in Senatobia. Gabby is seen assisting ultrasound technician Stay Simmerman while Kaitlyn is examining medical data and April is observing a bone imaging machine.

Independence High School welcomed Geoff Melton, site manager of WITRON in Hernando, to it two College & Career Readiness (CCR) classes this morning. Mr. Melton explained that WITRON is a manufacturer of automated systems used to distribute grocery products to supermarkets such as Kroger and Walmart. He also stressed the excellent careers WITRON offers as well as its outstanding apprenticeship program. Thank you, Mr. Harris, for providing this program to our students.



Thanks to the staff of Commincare for taking time to talk to our students about the risks associated with drug use and the importance of remaining drug free. Prevention Services Project Director- Shanterrica Pegues, Tykeria Vance, Elizabeth Cornelius, and Max Mobley shared lots of support and wisdom with our students, along with some great treats! Thanks for caring about our Wildcats!!

Independence High School welcomed Bedford Hunt and Bailey Hunt of Hunt Brothers Realty & Appraisal Services to both College & Career Readiness (CCR) classes this morning. Bailey Hunt explained the licensing requirements necessary to work in real estate while Bedford Hunt detailed the different approaches used to determine the value of real estate. In addition, both brothers pointed out the different types of careers available in the real estate industry. Thank you, Mr. Harris, for arranging this presentation.




We are beyond proud to announce that Daniella Najera was named the October Rotary Student of the Month! Daniella Najera is our one-of-a-kind, phenomenal, girl and October's Rotary Student of the Month!
She's a member of nearly every club IHS offers, runs cross country, and plays soccer. On top of that, she is top of her class academically!
We love this brilliant young lady and look forward to what she does in this world after graduation! 🖤❤️

Congrats to our Girls Cross Country for placing 1st in the 1-3A division at the Senatobia Tomahawk Open today. The fastest runner on the girls' team was Juliana Dickey, who received a TOP FINISHER T-shirt. Finishing close behind her were Journee Jackson and Alondra Luevano. The fastest runners on the boys' team were Austin Eddie, Parker Brimmage, and Brayden Allred. The boys team placed second in the 1-3A division. #wildcatstothetop #wildcatathletics



Mrs. Lucius' 9th grade English students had a book tasting. Six rotations with snacks where they reviewed an excerpt and made predictions. What a great way to make learning fun!

We are proud to announce that senior Angellyric Stevenson has already begun her military career. Angellyric signed with Sgt. Martin and the MS Army National Guard in March and started training immediately. She will leave for basic training in June. After completing basic training, she will enter AIT training to become an Automated Logistical Specialist. We are very, very proud of this young lady!
