On Friday October 31, forty (40) Independence High School seniors visited Rust College in Holly Springs. After a walking tour of the campus, everybody gathered in the gymnasium where numerous administrators explained academics as well as campus life. Also, entertainment was provided by the schools a cappella choir in addition to a Greek step show. Thank you Ms. Hadley, Ms. Payne and Mr. Harris for organizing this event.




One last shoutout to Mr. Miller during National Principals' Month! Our juniors and seniors wanted to let Mr. Miller know he is appreciated!

Today we are proud to recognize Mr. Miller, for his steadfast leadership and commitment to our school community. We are also excited to celebrate one of our seniors, Casey Drake, who will be attending Mississippi State University next year. We know she will represent our school and community well!


Congratulations to our Jr High Lady Kats on their win over North Panola! Tonight was also "Pink Out" night. Our Jr High basketball teams recognized Stacy Cook tonight. She is a breast cancer survior that works at IHS.




East Tate Elementary is observing Grandparents Day along with their Book Fair today and tomorrow in their library. We are proud that one of our seniors, Danielle Najera, volunteered to help with the grandparents and grandchildren that visited the Book Fair. Thank you, Danielle, for being of such great service to our schools!


As an effort to prepare for his upcoming internship in the Independence High School Library, senior Ramon Medina is spending this week job shadowing in the East Tate Elementary Library. Ramon will be assisting Ms. Ashley Jones, ETE Librarian, during second block at their Book Fair October 27-31. Thank you, Mr. Harris, for arranging this for Ramon.

Today Mrs. Dixon, Central Office Staff and School Board Members attended the Senior Pep Rally to recognize Mr. Miller for guiding IHS to a "B" rating for the 24-25 school year. Other members of the staff who played a key role were also recognized for their outstanding scores. They are Mrs. Jaru Liggins, Ms. Mindy Dunlap, Mrs. Heather Dickey, Ms. Cheryl Hadley, Ms. Mary Ann Smith, Mrs. Tabitha Jones and Mrs. Kelsey Carr.





Our Boys and Girls Cross Country teams had SIX TOP FINISHERS at today's Senatobia race. The Girls team top finishers were Juliana Dickey, Alondra Luevano, Journee Jackson, and Daniella Najera. Our Boys team top finishers were Austin Eddie and Parker Brimmage. Next Thursday, the top seven runners from each team will have the opportunity to compete at the State Meet.
