Science in motion! Our 5th graders put Newton’s Laws of Motion to the test with some exciting hands-on experiments this week. Love seeing our young scientists learn by doing!

Get ready, Strayhorn Elementary! The annual Turkey Feather Showdown is officially here, running from November 2nd through November 19th! You can purchase 4 feathers for just $1 to support your favorite teachers and help them take the lead. The top 3 teachers who collect the most feathers will get a pie in the face! Start stocking up on your feathers and let the friendly competition begin!

The halls at Strayhorn are alive with music! Our students are having so much fun learning music fundamentals with fall games like "Pass the Pumpkin" and "Dancing Through the Orange Trees." It’s amazing watching them learn rhythm, teamwork, and movement while having a total blast!

I think we ALL want to be invited to Mrs. Kelsie's 6th grade math class! Students used ratio scaling to alter a master cookie recipe, baked their batches, and ate the results! Talk about a sweet lesson.

Dice, leaves, and addition! Ms. Korie's kindergarteners went on a fall treasure hunt, rolled dice to count out their items, and wrote addition equations to solve. Hands-on learning at its finest!

Report cards are heading home today! Check those backpacks tonight or ask your student to hand theirs over so you can review their latest grades and celebrate all their hard work. Report cards are a great moment to reflect on their achievements, set new goals, and stay connected on their progress. If you have any questions or want to discuss how to support your child’s learning, please reach out directly to their teacher. Let’s keep working together for a great school year!

Taking on a new school is no small job, but Mrs. Melissa Shaw has jumped right in with so much heart, energy, and care for our Strayhorn family!
Since it’s National Principals Month, we want to give Mrs. Shaw a huge, official welcome. In just a short time, she’s already made such a bright impact by supporting our teachers, connecting with families, and making sure our kids have an amazing place to learn and grow every day.
We are so glad she's here leading Strayhorn Elementary! 💙❤️💙

Cozy up, Strayhorn! Hands in pockets, hoods up! Students can pay $1 to wear their hoodies up throughout the school day this Wednesday the 14th. Who’s bringing their favorite hoodie?

And we’re back!
Fall break is over and Mrs. Kesie's 6th grade is jumping straight into ratios! Students are using Froot Loops to help them as they sort colors, write part-to-part comparisons, and master how to build equivalent ratios. Who knew math could taste this good?
